Vintage Travel Poster Recreations

These vintage travel posters were used in a themed environment for a late 1940's travel agency, called "St. Augustine Travel Company". I researched many travel promotional materials for the era, and did in depth studies of the colour profile of the age, using the muted tones and clean lines found therein. I chose to remove the human figures from the various posters in an attempt to simplify the overall design and further the notion of unexplored spaces and the bounty of nature. These ideas were driving forces in the travel industry, especially considering the industrial and financial boon of post WWII USA. I have clearly taken direction from the WPA posters.

For the first poster, Rio, I actually used a contemporary poster by the designer, Henry Rivers. You can see more of his work at Travel Poster Co.
